Kalinga University organized 7th Annual Sports Fest 2023 concluded successfully

Three days 7th Annual Sports Fest 2023 organized by Kalinga University concluded successfully at Sports complex of the University in presence of faculties and dignitaries. Students enjoyed various events scheduled at different locations during the events. This was first sports event for students after covid-19 pandemic. Events were organized by Dean Students Welfare, Dr. Asha Ambhaikar and team with coordination of sports department.

NCC cadets and students took out parade and Chief guest declared the event open for the students. Colorful balloons were released in the air and Mashal was lighted. Enthusiastic students took part in different events organized. Vice Chancellor Dr. R Shridhar, Director General Dr. Byju John, Registrar Dr. Sandeep Gandhi, Dean Student Welafre Dr. Asha Ambhaikar, Dean Academic Affairs Dr. Rahul Mishra, Director IQAC Dr. Vijaya Laxmi, Sports Officer Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, Mrs Jasmine Joshi, Deans and Heads of all department were present along with faculties during the inauguration session.

Athletics events of 100 meter race, 400 meter race, Shot Put, Hammer Throw, Relay Race, Discuss Throw, Javelin Throw, 800 meter race, 1500 meter race, three leg race and long jump events were organized for boys and girls separately on the first day of the event as per schedule. Medals and certificates were distributed soon after the completion of the event by the distinguished guest. Faculties and students enjoyed the power packed competitions. Despite rise in temperature students were enthusiastic and dedicated towards the sport events which were taking part after long gap of three years. This was the first event after covid-19 outbreak.

The second day events were organized at Sports complex and University Campus. In presence of dignitaries events were organized. Special Guests Dr. Mehboob (International coordinator), Mr. Shiv Shankar Kshatriya (Director of Divine Group & Idea Publication), Mr. Rajeev Agrawal (Plant Head, SARDA Industries), Mr. Naidu (Group HR Head, SARDA Industries), Dean of Commerce & Management Dr. Abhishek Tripathi, Chief Proctor Dr. A. Vijayanand, and Deans/Heads of all department were present along with faculties.

In team cricket boys winner was Technology department while runner up was team of management.

In team event girls cricket Pharmacy team was the winner and Science team was runner up. In team event football Boys winner was management team and technology team was runner up. In tug of war boys Winner was Pharmacy team while runner up was management team. Tug of war girls winner was Information technology team and runner up was Arts and Humanities. Basketball girls even was won by team of Technology department while runner up was Management team. In team volleyball girls event Arts and Humanities was winner and runner up was technology department. Team Kabaddi girls event winner was Technology department and Runner up was Law department. Team badminton boys was won by Technology department and runner up was Information Technology department.

On the third day of sports event basketball boys event was won by Information Technology and runner up was Technology team. Volleyball boys event was won by Technology team and runner up was Pharmacy department. Kabaddi boys winner was Technology department and runner up was Information Technology. Kho-Kho girls event was won by Science department and runner up was Arts and Humanities. Tug of war girls event was won by Information Technology and runner up was Arts and Humanities department.

Overall champion of the event was department of Science. Master of ceremony was Dr. Abhishek Tripathi & Ms. Rajni Yadav.

At the end of the event winners were given away trophies by the dignitaries. Program ended with National Anthem and students enjoyed DJ night.
