Engineers Day is celebrated all over India on 15th September 2023, in the remembrance of Dr. Mokshagundam Visweswaraya, world renowned ever first Indian civil engineer, and recipient of several prestigious recognitions, including awards like “Bharat Ratna”. Kalinga University, Raipur is a well-known Educational Institute in Central India and has emerged as Centre of Excellence in Higher Education. The University not only focusses on quality education but also emphasizes on the holistic development of the students.
To take this endeavor ahead, Engineer’s Day was celebrated at Kalinga University under the guidance of the Faculty of Technology. The event started by lighting the lamp, garlanding the Statue of the Goddess of Wisdom Maa Saraswati with the Sarasvati Vandana and by paying floral tributes to Dr. Mokshagundam Visweswaraya. The event was marked by the eminent presence of the Vice-Chancellor- Dr. R. Shridhar, Dean of Academic Affairs- Dr. Rahul Mishra, Dean of Faculty of Technology- Dr. C.P.Jawahar, HoD’s and Faculty members of Technology department of the University and the students of Mechanical, Mining, Electrical and Civil Engineering Departments.
Mrs. Anu G Pillai, master of the ceremony gave the inaugural speech. The Vice-Chancellor Dr. R. Shridhar, Dean of Academic Affairs- Dr. Rahul Mishra and Dean of Faculty of Technology addressed the gathering with the most updated reviews on the achievements and visionary thoughts of Sir Visweswaraya, which have great potential for the ongoing era of engineering and the role of engineers in the national and society building. The students participated in speech and cultural activities, shared their knowledge and discussed their views based on the visionary ideals of the great engineer.
The event was successfully concluded with a heartfelt ‘Vote of Thanks’ by the committee members –Mr.Piyush Das, Mr.Akshit Lamba, Mr.Gaurav Tamrakar, Mr.Rahul Baghel and Mr.Rajesh Chauhan.
