[Raipur, 14-16 September, 2023] — Kalinga University, Raipur is a well-known Educational Institute in Central India and has emerged as Centre of Excellence in Higher Education. The University not only focuses on quality education but also emphasizes on the holistic development of the students. Moving with the aim, the 4th National Moot Court Competition, 2023, was held at Kalinga University by the Faculty of Law from September 14th to September 16th 2023 concluded successfully. This signature event for aspiring legal professionals brought together top talents from across the nation and showcased the university’s commitment to fostering legal excellence.
The competition, held annually by Kalinga University, has solidified its reputation as a premier platform for law students to hone their skills, engage in rigorous legal debates, and demonstrate their advocacy prowess. This year’s edition, now a part of the institution’s history, was marked by exceptional performances and an unwavering commitment to the pursuit of justice.
30 law schools participated in this competition where Amity University- School of Law, Raipur emerged as the winner and the University of Lucknow was the runner-up. The trophy for Best Memorial was awarded to the Lloyd Law College, Greater Noida.
The inaugural session commenced with welcoming the Chief Guest of the day Mr. B. Gopa Kumar – Special Public Prosecutor, CBI & NIA, Ex-Deputy Advocate General and Ex-Assistant Solicitor General of India, Mr. R. S. Sharma – Ex Principal Secretary Law & Retired District Judge, Mr. J. P. Padwar – Retired Additional Director Prosecution, Government of Chhattisgarh.
Key Highlights of the 4th National Moot Court Competition:
Impressive Participation: The competition attracted an impressive number of participants, comprising law students from thirty prestigious institutions. This diverse pool of legal minds contributed to an atmosphere of intellectual rigor and healthy competition.
Thematic Excellence: The moot court problem presented challenging legal issues, reflecting contemporary concerns and recent developments in the legal landscape. Participants showcased their ability to dissect complex legal problems with precision and creativity.
Esteemed Panel of Judges: Distinguished legal professionals and academicians served as judges, providing invaluable feedback and evaluating participants’ performances with expertise and impartiality.
Winners and Prizes: The competition concluded with a grand award ceremony, where the winners were recognized for their outstanding performances. Winners were awarded an amount of Rs. 21000/- Runners-up received Rs.15000/-.
Rs. 7500/- each was awarded to Ms. Shakshi Pandey, University of Lucknow as the Best Speaker. Mr. Adhiraj Kale, Manikchand Pahade Law College, Aurangabad was awarded as the Best Researcher.
The valedictory ceremony was graced with the auspicious presence of his lordship Justice Gautam Bhaduri, Judge, Chhattisgarh High Court and Mr. Ramakant Mishra, Deputy Solicitor General of India. The event was well appreciated by the esteemed guests as such events give an understanding of how a real court function.
