Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Research Chair of Kalinga University Organizes Seminar on “Cultural splendor of Chhattisgarh”
Naya Raipur- Under the aegis of Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Research Chair of Kalinga University, a seminar was organized on the topic “Cultural splendor of Chhattisgarh” in the seminar hall of the university. Prof. Piyush Kumar with his expertise on Chhattisgarhi folk culture addressed the student as resource person of the event. The curiosity of the students and faculty members was addressed by Prof. Piyush Kumar related to the culture of Chhattisgarh.
The seminar was inaugurated by lighting the lamp and Saraswati vandana in the presence of the chief speaker, faculty members and students on this occasion, Nafia Ahmed student of BA and her team presented the melodious Saraswati Vandana. The resource person was welcomed by the student coordinator of the program Ms. Anisha Khalkho and Nafia Ahmed. After that Dr. Ajay Kumar Shukla, Chairperson of Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh chair of Resource, gave a concise introduction to the Resource person and welcomed him.
Prof. Piyush kumar highlighted on various aspects related to the culture of Chhattisgarh, prof. Piyush Kumar said that the people of the world are amazed to see the glorious culture here since the Vedic period. There is a tradition of giving great respect to the nephew and this is the birthplace of Mata Kaushalya. Along with the Mitan tradition, he told enlightening things on Sua Geet, Panthi Geet, Karma Geet, Raut Nacha etc. He told about the death song of Dandabhi Madia tribe of Bastar that after the death of the person, the body is also returned to the nature. Describing the glorious culture here as the reason for the simplicity, ease and sociable personality of the residents, he said that there is no social evil in Chhattisgarh as compared to other regions of the country and there has been a rich tradition of coordination here.
The keynote speaker, opened a discussion with the students. The students satiated their curiosity by asking various questions related to the culture of Chhattisgarh. In the next phase of the programme, a documentary based on the folk culture of Bastar, directed by Mr. Rajkumar Das, Assistant Professor, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, was screened. In which a beautiful depiction of various traditions prevalent on the death rituals of Dandabhi Madia tribe of Bastar was presented
At the end of the seminar, Ms. Kajal Shah and Ms. Surbhi Jagat of BA VI Semester honored the keynote speaker by giving memento on behalf of the university. Ms. Khushi Mishra of BA VI Semester was the master of ceremony, while the vote of thanks and gratitude was expressed by Dr. Ajay Kumar Shukla, President of Shaheed Virnarayan Singh Shodhpeeth. On this occasion, Dr. Vijay Bhushan, Dr. Sushma Dubey, Dr. Vineeta Dewan, Dr. Vijay Anand, Dr. Anita Samal, Dr. Shraddha Hirkane, Dr. Manoj Mathew, Mr. Rajkumar Das, Ms. Aakriti Devangan, Ms. Madhumita Ghosh, Ms. Jessica Minz, Ms. Jyoti Reddy, Ms. Archana Nagvanshi, Mo. Yunus Ansari and students of Faculty of Arts and Humanities were present.
