Kalinga University Participated in ‘The Smart City Hackathon-2023’ organized by Poornima Institute of Engineering and Technology (PIET) Jaipur, Rajasthan

Students of Kalinga University from Department of Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT) won third prize at ‘The Smart City Hackathon-2023’ organized by Poornima Institute of Engineering and Technology (PIET) Jaipur, Rajasthan recently.

Overall 245 teams from different universities and colleges took part in the event. Under the leadership of Mr. Omprakash Dewangan, Head of Department of CSIT, five teams from Kalinga University participated in the event. Teams were named as Mutant, Extinguisher, Oasis, Veterans and Eazy. Team leader of Mutant team was Moses Joseph Benjamin and members were Khushal Dewangan, Abhijeet Singh and Meenal Hirwani. Leader of Extinguisher team was Harsha Prasad Sah, members were Khushi Goshwami, Gopal Kumar and Prashant Shreevastav. Oasis team leader was Tejas Nahargadkar while members were Sakshi Paswan, Rounak Bisen and Pranav Sahu. Harsha Ambaliya was team leader of Veterans, while members were Shubham Aditya and Jublee Sarma. Team leader of Eazy group was Vedant Shrivastava, members were Shivam Jogandar Dubey, Priyanka Mourya and Aditya Sahu.

In hardware category students received third prize for project title Agri-drone, they were awarded Rs 7000 and certificates. The agriculture drone is specially designed for agriculture needs. It is used for mapping fields, monitoring crop health and identifying areas that require additional attention or irrigation. It can be used to spray crops with pesticides and fertilizers, reducing the need for manual labor and increasing efficiency. The innovative idea of students was appreciated.

It is worth mention that Kalinga University is a reputed educational institution of Central India. For providing innovation and quality education, the university has been granted B+ recognition by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It is the only private university in Chhattisgarh, which is included in the NIRF Ranking 2022 of Excellent 101-150 Universities. Here the students are trained through high quality multidisciplinary research focused education and skill development programs to inculcate innovation in the students as per the global benchmarks. So that with the development of leadership power in them, the spirit of becoming a responsible citizen can be developed.
